Hal Clement Science Speaker

Heather Preston is a professional astronomer and for the last ten years has served as Planetarium Director of the Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium in Fort Myers, Florida. A lifelong SFF fan and filker from NYC, Heather first attended Boskone as an MIT undergraduate (Physics) and sold her first fan art at the Boskone Art Show to Harold Stubbs (a pen-and-ink of a very recognizable wizard and some spiralling equations, rather archly titled “Einstein-deSitter Equations with Cosmological Constant Lambda”). She went on through grad school at the University of Washington and became an Operations Astronomer for the Hubble Space Telescope from before launch to the first servicing mission. She married Derek Buzasi, a fellow astronomer, and they have traveled about in the usual way of peripatetic academics, from Berkeley to US Air Force academy to colleges and universities of many stripes – having a few adventures along the way! She’s looking forward to meeting you all at Boskone.
